WHY RED BIKE? What's in a name?

When launching a division of a company, brand or campaign of any kind - a few things are important out of the gate. One of these is to be recognized and remembered.

Each day each of us are inundated with messages, ads, input and communications in the multiple of thousands. This will never lessen - it will only escalate. In this barrage of stimuli - how then can a company, brand or campaign cut through and get through to be recognized and remembered?

One way is to use a "meme."

What is a meme?

Imagine looking at a STOP sign. What happens? Do you process and think, "Hmmmmm - there is a red sign - in an odd shape with the letters S, T, O, P. Hmmm - I wonder what that is for?"  Probably not - before you can even think about it - STOP is already imprinted in your brain and - if you are driving an ambulance  - your foot is already on the pedal - pressing to slow.

Simply put - a "meme" is a message that is tangible, recognizable and communicates - almost faster than one can think or process. And - it is easy to recall.

Once one recognizes and knows the purpose of a STOP sign - the reaction to it and recall is unconscious - instantaneous.

RED BIKE - what do you see? What do you think? What might you remember? I hope your mind immediately conjures up a RED BIKE. It does not matter what kind of RED BIKE - just RED BIKE. And - you begin to associate RED BIKE with medical technologies - once you know more about the company and its offerings.

But first - recognize and remember RED BIKE.

Try this out - among colleagues - family - friends, say, "I'm going to say something to you - but I don't want you to see or imagine what I say - okay? (Then say), "RED BIKE." Remind them, "Remember - don't think about or imagine a RED BIKE- can you do it?

What I have enjoyed already - is how many people tell me about their childhood "RED BIKES" or talk about how they enjoy bike riding (cycling) or ask me, "Okay - so WHY RED BIKE?" [Then they get the meme explanation.]

The "why" begins with a name that ideally can be rapidly recognized and remembered. Then the next step is - remembered for what! Leading Edge Medical Technologies for emergency medical services.

For now - RED BIKE - I hope you will remember. And - when you have something you need to have individuals recognize and recall - try using a meme!
